This project is born from the admiration I have for a woman’s resilience. I met her a few years ago, but when I got to know her better, she told me that she had harmed herself in the past. She fascinated me, I was curious about her. Where did it go wrong?
In Revelation, I follow four young women with a history of self-harm. I focused on women around my age because I can identify with them more easily. I did not want to judge, but tried to understand and learn from them.
Those who have self-harmed in the past face a huge dilemma: show the scars and accept them, or avoid negative reactions by hiding them. I hope that with this project, self-harm can become more visible and therefore, easier to talk about.
